long may you run

thought i'd get one more long run in in 2007. started out on the backroads marathon course (relatively flat, dirt roads...with a bit of snow) as all the trails are crap due to the excellent amount of snow we've had lately. was only figuring to run for 15 miles or so as i have not done a long run in 3 months or so....anyway, before i knew it i was at the 1/2 way point on the marathon course and once you are there there is no other way back. so, i ran the full marathon course in just under 3 hours. pretty surprising considering i have been running quite sporadically over the past few months. knee was a bit sore after 20 miles but better than i though based on how hard i fell on it while shredding this past week. at any rate, i'm now thinking with a bit of training and some injury (lack of) luck a 2:20 - 2:30 marathon is possible (at sea level). here is a nice photo of the excellent skies today...maybe the beach boys have got you now
with those waves singing caroline no
rollin' down that empty ocean road
gettin to the surf on time -neil

peace. TL
